We built ProposeDate to be simple and private. We collect only what we need to make the service work, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.

1. Who we are

ProposeDate is an independent service. For any privacy-related request, contact us at support@proposedate.com.

2. What data we collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

Name — the first name you enter when creating a proposal, shown to the recipient
Email address — used only to notify you when your partner responds. Never shown to the recipient.
Proposal content — the optional message, the questionnaire responses (time, activity, extra), and the proposal status
IP address — collected automatically for security and abuse prevention
Waitlist email — if you joined our waitlist, we store your email to notify you at launch

We do not collect location data, device identifiers, browsing history, or any sensitive personal data.

3. How we use your data

To create and deliver your date proposal link
To send you a notification email when your partner responds
To show the proposal to the recipient when they open the link
To prevent abuse and protect the service
To contact waitlist subscribers at launch (one email only)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Contract performance — processing your name and email is necessary to deliver the service you requested
Legitimate interest — IP address processing for security and abuse prevention
Consent — waitlist email collection is based on your explicit opt-in

5. Data retention

Proposals without an account — automatically deleted after 7 days
Proposals with an account — retained until you delete them or close your account
Account data — retained until you request deletion
Waitlist emails — deleted within 30 days of the service launch
Server logs — retained for 7 days then automatically deleted

6. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the service. All providers are contractually bound to process data only as instructed and in compliance with GDPR. Data is stored within the European Union.

Cloud infrastructure provider — for data storage, computing, and transactional email delivery
Network security provider — for DNS, content delivery, and protection against attacks
Payment processor — for handling premium subscriptions (payment data is never stored on our servers)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party for commercial purposes.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
Erasure — ask us to delete all your data ("right to be forgotten")
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time when processing is consent-based

8. Cookies

ProposeDate uses only essential cookies necessary for the service to function. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics that require consent. If we introduce optional cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent first.

9. Data security

We protect your data with industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission, access controls, and automatic data deletion after retention periods expire.

10. Children

ProposeDate is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify registered users by email.
